Guardian's of the Galaxy Animation.

This is my animation. Our theme is Guardian's of the Galaxy and so I had to make a animation about how earth is no longer habitable for us so we have to find another planet. Hope you enjoy!

Pisirina Guardians of the Galaxy Narrative.

Chapter 1,The Spill:
During a hot day, 3 good friends were out at the beach . Peter, Luna and Neil were having a picnic, until they see a big steamboat. They saw something from the boat leaking into the ocean. They immediately went over to Luna’s Apartment and started watching the News.
Chapter 2,Panicking News:
“ There is breaking news, repeat there is breaking news, there has just been an oil spill down in Mission bay.” said Jessie the reporter. “ There is also been some factories that have been polluting the air by just burning metal and other materials.” Jessie panicked. “ Also there is an 95% that we have to leave earth and move to another planet! Who is going to save us? Questioned Jessie.

Ahhhh! Neil screamed, We are going to die. “ But I am too young to die” Luna cried. “You are only 21 yrs old” replied Peter. They figured out that they have to save the World themselves after all Neil is an Astronaut, Luna is a Scientist and Peter is a Adventurer. Anyways Neil asked his old agent if he still had his Rocket.

Chapter 3, The start of something different .
His Agent said Yes, “Hooray” 3 of them shouted. They all rushed over to where his rocket and found out that his Rocket was busted. Peter said “I know how to fix your rocket, I just need some fixing tools and my brain.” Yay! “You saved my day Peter” said Luna.

“Hammer Please” said Peter, “ Also the nuts and bolts” Luna handed it.
“There it is finished, Now let’s go blast into space and find another planet to live on.’’ Peter said.

They went outside of his agent’s backyard and started the countdown. “Three, Two,One Blast Off”said Neil. They all blasted off into space and went to mars. But as soon as they saw mars, there was a asteroid coming towards them so they immediately went back to Earth. On their way back to Earth they saw a very interesting planet. So they decided to land on the planet.

“OMG, It so amazing!I am definitely not leaving this planet.”said Luna. “ Wait what should we name this planet.” said Peter. Neil replied “ I was thinking because there is so much water on this planet it should be named Aquavia.”
And lived happily ever after.

Pisirina Imaginative Recount Writing (Solar Eclipse).

OMG! That was really cool. Oh Hi there,I just came back from looking at the Solar Eclipse. Did you see it as well!

For those of you who don’t know what a solar eclipse is, it is when the Moon passes between the sun and Earth while orbiting. If you didn’t know that I think you’ve been living under a rock. Well enough of that let’s talk about the Solar eclipse.

It was breathtaking and astonishing to look at  when I was wearing the solar glasses. The view was definitely a delight to the senses. Something that I noticed was it was starting to get really cold because without the sun there would be no warmth in Earth.

What I wore was these special glasses called solar glasses. I have to wear it because if I don’t I will become blind and I don’t want that to happen. Plus if you wear it you get a better view of the Solar eclipse.

I also heard some people saying  ‘Woah, Wow, OMG and AHHHHH!’. But me I stayed calm but at the same time I was just SHOOK. I wonder what other people felt during the Solar Eclipse.

I just can’t wait until next year when there’s a Lunar Eclipse in Auckland, New Zealand! Or the next Solar Eclipse.

Reflection: Term 3 Paideia Seminar

On Tuesday we had our 3rd Paideia Seminar.

20170919_142009.jpgThe Statement we had to think about was: ‘Is being civilised such a good thing? There are different meanings for the word civilisation. It is good to be civilised because if we weren't nice to each other there would be wars. What I think civilisation means is how advanced or how easy things are now than back then. If we weren’t civilised and there were no laws, first of all there would be lots of car crashes and wars because some people might not be loyal or kind towards others.
20170919_141957.jpg I thought  we did a great job at Piggybacking, sharing and including people in the Seminar.

My Goal was to speak about 3 times and I finally reached my Goal. What was different from this seminar from our 2nd one was that I opened my mouth more and last time I was really quiet. What I am going to work more on is to think more critically and share more information about the topic.

Pisirina Recount Writing: Stardome Trip

While sorting out groups, I was scared if I was with my friends or not. Mrs Buchanan called out my name and said “ Pisirina, Roshaan, Jedida, Marika,AJF, Jacob, Varnce and AJT are in Mr Eze’s group.

When we got there, I was so excited because it looked so fascinating inside. We marched politely inside the Stardome classroom. We met our instructor, his name is John. He talked with us about all of the facts of the planets in the solar system. A few facts I learnt in the room is that some nicknames for the planets are Rocky midgets(Earth, Mars, Mercury and Venus), Gas Giants (Saturn,Jupiter,Uranus and Neptune). Another thing I also learnt is  Venus is hotter than Mercury and Mercury is the second closest to the Sun.

After that we had a scavenger hunt about space. We had to look for answers around the Gallery area. There were three groups who came 1st equal. Mr Eze had two groups for the scavenger hunt and they both came 1st! The names of the two groups are The Galaxy / Mr Eze’s boys and The Stars A.K.A. me and the other girls.

Now we went over to the Planetarium and this is where all the magic begins. We looked up into this dome and watched this cool movie. We saw some zodiac signs and other things in the milky way.
The worst thing about the trip was going in the same bus which had no windows and the Air conditioner didn’t work! I literally thought that I was going to be a baked potato.  Another problem was I was all by myself because I had none of my besties with me and so I kept on singing Lonely to myself but it still didn’t change a single thing.

In the end of the day I really enjoyed what had just happened last Thursday and I was really excited to write about it.

Pisirina Term 2 Rubric Reflection.

When I saw my final score and how I did, I was kind of  disappointed because I think I could’ve had a bigger score. The most obvious one that I didn’t do well in was the Paideia Seminar because I didn’t really participate in with the conversation that much. But I really am proud of what I have achieved because I think that I have really improved from Term 1. But Something I obviously know what to work on is contributing more in the Seminar.

My goal for the next Paideia Seminar is to talk more but not dominate the conversation.

Pisirina Scanning task.

Walt: scan for information in texts
Walt: make connections across texts
compare resources on Earth and Mars
Walt: understand the wider solar system and distances between planets.

This was pretty easy because I always scan information. So it wasn't really new for me.

Earth's Resources

Walt: understand that water, air, rocks, and soil, and life forms make up planet Earth and are Earth's resources.
Walt: make connections between texts and be critical of other texts we go to in order to develop our knowledge.

Pisirina Reflection Paideia Seminar Term 2.

This Term we had the Paideia Seminar for Term 2 because we had no time for the Seminar. Me, Jahzara, Levonah and Amelia were in a group for the Seminar. Our perspective was School. I chose this because it had lot’s of reasons and facts to talk about. This is what we were talking and arguing politely about:
Is it important to keep our humanity, emotions, critical thinking, and empathy or doesn’t it matter if we live in a wired world where we are individuals, not a community?
What is the best or worst case scenario of living in a world, where we don’t communicate face to face?
I felt really nervous, I kept on telling my group I don’t know what to say but Amelia told me to just piggy bank on my Idea. My Emotions took over me but I was okay. I thought that I didn’t really talk that much because I was really shy. One person who surprised me was Bethan because she barely opened her mouth and usually she dominates the conversation. Something I could do better is to talk more and express myself because everybody has a voice.

Day #6: Native Aotearoa.

Day #6: Native Aotearoa.
Hi, guys, this is going to be my last post for the Winter Learning Journey. Anyways for this activity, I have to write a poem about me just arriving at Shag Point.
Activity 1:
File:Perbargus Point West Portholland - - 514754.jpgI’m off the boat and I set my feet into the sand. I hear the people surrounding me asking questions in another language. I smell the yummy fish they are cooking and the ones in the Sea. I look behind, Should I stay? The Villagers greet me with a Hongi and into their Village, showing me new things and facts about their culture. “Yay I shout, I finally found the home.

After visiting Shag Point, you hop back in the van and drive all the way up the east coast of the south island until you reach the town of Picton. You get out of the van and onto the Interislander ferry. It travels back across the Cook Strait to Wellington. Wellington is the capital city of New Zealand and every winter the city hosts a huge Matariki festival to celebrate the Maori New Year. This year part of the festival is being held at Te Papa, a big museum in Wellington.
Read about the Matariki festival at Te Papa.  There are so many different things to see and do at the festival this year. On your blog, tell us about three of the events. You can choose any three events that you wish.
Let’s Begin.
           Activity 2:
  1. Star Weave Jam: Because you can weave stars out of many materials like recycled materials.
  2. Ngā Kai o Matariki: Celebrating Māori Cuisine: because I love cooking and we also get to taste some samples of yummy food
  3. Timo Timo: Because I love hearing people sing and stories too!

Bonus Activity: As part of the Matariki festival, there is a two day Kapa Haka competition. The haka is a traditional war dance that Maori performed before going into battle. The haka is now performed by children/adults in the community and by professional sporting teams, including our national rugby team, the ‘All Blacks.’  The All Blacks have performed various haka over the years. Watch the following three haka videos (1 – 3) and, on your blog, list the haka videos in order from best (#1) to worst (#3). There are no right or wrong answers ☺

At the end of your day at Te Papa, you head to your hotel in the centre of Wellington. You are staying on Cuba Street, one of the coolest streets in the city.
Here is my opinion.
#1. Rugby World Cup 2011- All Blacks vs France.
#2. All Blacks vs South Africa 2016.
#3.World Cup 2015 – All Blacks vs Argentina

I really enjoyed and learnt a lot on the Winter Learning Journey. I can not wait until the next Summer Learning Journey or Winter Learning Journey! See you guys until the first day of Term 3!

Day #5: One Step at a Time…

Day #5: One Step at a Time…
On the Site, it said that we had to pretend that I was lost in the middle of a forest and that I lost my group and Curious Kiwi.
File:Usnea (Old Man's Beard lichen) hanging off beech trees on Lewis Pass.jpgActivity 1:

I have no idea what to do maybe I should call out for them. “Umm, hello, Curious Kiwi” I shouted out loud. “Thump” I heard something around the corner. I was scared to look behind the bush but it was just wind pushing the rubbish. “Whew” I was relieved.

Since they are not replying, I guess I have to walk, all by myself! I was only walking for 10 minutes until I saw some Campers wait is that my group and Curious Kiwi!

Day #4: Swimming with Sharks- W.L.J.- Activity.

Day #4: Swimming with Sharks.
Hi everyone, today I am going to be blogging about the Farewell Spit Whale stranding. On the Site, it said we had to explain what the locals did to try and save the Whales. So let us begin.

File:Whales on beach, Farewell Split, South Island, New Zealand.JPG

They had to keep on pouring the buckets full of water so they can still be hydrated. The locals had to keep away from their tails and keep their blow hole clear and cover them as well. They had to help over 300 beached whales. The Farewell Spit is now a graveyard of the 300 pilot whales.

Activity 2:
Day #4: Swimming with Sharks.
Hi everyone, today I am going to be blogging about a movie trailer called Whale Rider. On the Site, it said that we had to summarise the trailer and vote it on a scale of one to five. Here is my description of the trailer.
Whale Rider is about this girl named Paikea who had a twin brother. Her twin brother didn’t make it at birth. Paikea is a descendant of her ancestor Paikea. But every generation the first born son was going to lead them out of the darkness and so Paikea wanted to prove that not only the chosen people are the ones to lead their tribe but all of them could as well. I give the Trailers a 5 out of 5 because it had a true meaning behind the whole movie/trailer.

Day #4: Swimming with Sharks Bonus Activity.
Hey, guys, it’s Pisi and today I am going to be doing the Bonus Activity for Day#4. On the Site, it said that we are going to be learning about Hector’s Dolphin. I am going to be blogging about if we should stop people fishing in the Farewell Spit.

I say we should stop the fisherman because they are very rare and native. Did you know that Hector’s Dolphins only grow up to 1.5 meters, so they are the smallest Dolphins in the world? Another reason why we should stop them is that there are approximately 80 individuals left and 55 adult Hector’s Dolphins left on earth.

That is why we should Stop the Fisherman.

Day #3: Wild Eyes-W.L.J.

Day #3: Wild Eyes

Hi, it’s Pisi and today I am going to be blogging about an animal. On the Site, it said that we had to go to this page and choose a bird and do some research about it.

Image Attribution: By KeresH (Own work) [CC BY-SA 3.0 ( or GFDL (], via Wikimedia Commons

Name: Tuatara.
Type of animal: Reptile.
Weight:0.5- 1 kg.
Length: Adults are 50 cm (20 inches) long.
Skin Colour: Greenish brown so they can camouflage in the wild.

Day #3: Wild Eyes

Hi, it’s Pisi and today I am going to be blogging about if we should let predators be free or if we should trap them up and kill them. Here is m my opinions. I think that we should trap them up and kill them because…….
Activity 2

  1. People used to think that Possums only ate plants but there is research that Possums can eat eggs and chicks and I don’t want little baby chicks getting harmed.
  2. Possums also eat nectar and berries and that is what the native birds eat . So there are fewer berries for the Native Birds.
  3. If we kill the possums we can take their fur and make some clothing.

Day #2: New Zealand by Land and Sea-W.L.J.-Bonus Activity.

WLJ Pure New Zealand Activity 2.

Hi, guys, it's me again (Pisi) and today I am going to be blogging about Pure New Zealand Activity 2.

Pure New Zealand. On the Site, it said that I had to watch a video and blog about it. On my blog, I had to write about one of my 5 favorite activities. Here is one of my top 5 favorite things to do in Auckland.

  1. I love going to the Rainbow’s End theme park because there are many things to do there, my favorite game there is the Log Flume.

  1. The Auckland Zoo is the best place to go if you are an animal lover like me or even eager to learn about new animals you’ve never heard about.

  1. My favourite beach to go to is Mission Bay. I love swimming in the wavy ocean especially when it is summertime.

  1. The Auckland War Memorial Museum is located in the Auckland Domain Park. I love going to this Museum because not only can we go with our family we even have school trips to this place and we get to learn more about our national culture(Maori).

  1. My last favorite place I love going is to the Sky tower to see the rest of the City up high.
